PLUX wireless biosignals award 2010

And the winners are... Christoph Amma, Dirk Gehrig, and Tanja Schultz, with the work entitled "Airwriting Recognition using Wearable Motion Sensors".

Results of the Wireless Biosignals Award 2010 have just been announced. In a ceremony held together with the International Joint Conference on Biomedical Engineering Systems and Technologies (BIOSTEC 2011), Prof. Hugo Gamboa, CEO of PLUX, recognized Christoph Amma, Dirk Gehrig, and Tanja Schultz, from the Cognitive Systems Lab of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Germany)

The authors developed the work entitled "Airwriting Recognition using Wearable Motion Sensors", which presents a wearable input device that enables the user to input text into a computer by writing character gestures in the air as if they were using an imaginary blackboard.

In recognition for the high quality and relevance of their application, the authors will receive a bioPLUX research biosignal acquisition system.

Applications for the 2011 edition are already open, for which we invite all eligible candidates to submit their applications until 30th September 2011. Further details about the application process can be found at the Wireless Biosignals Award 2011 regulation.

As defined by the vision of this initiative, "The Wireless Biosignals Award is promoted by PLUX as part of its research strategy, development and technological innovation. It aims to foster and contribute towards the development of a research culture in Electrophysiology, Physiotherapy, BioFeedback, Human-Machine Interface as well as Biosignals in Healthcare, Sports or Education."
